Participant Feedback

Coaching for Psychologists is a comprehensive program designed for psychologists looking to expand their expertise, enhance their client impact, and seamlessly integrate coaching into their practice. Whether you're an early-career psychologist or a seasoned practitioner with limited coaching experience, this course will equip you with evidence-based coaching techniques and practical skills to elevate your professional offerings.

The key objectives of the course are for participants to:

  • Extend your awareness and understanding of the evidence base, principles and intervention techniques for coaching psychology

  • Gain a greater insight into your strengths and areas for development as a psychologist coach

  • Broaden and build on your existing psychologist capabilities into the coaching domain

  • Develop your coaching knowledge and skills though observation, practice, feedback and discussion

  • Gain a clearer understanding of coaching applications across different domains

  • Understand how to position yourself amongst other coaches in the market as an psychologist

Coaching for Psychologists is a comprehensive program covering:

  • Introduction to coaching, coaching psychology and coaching competencies

  • Developing the coaching alliance

  • Assessing and developing an understanding of your client

  • Basic approaches to coaching interventions - goal focused approaches and cognitive behavioural coaching

  • More advanced approaches to coaching techniques including ACT, narrative, and positive psychological interventions

  • Applications of coaching including leadership, executive coaching, personal growth and development, and organisational change

  • Multiple opportunities to observe, practise and receive feedback on your coaching.

  • Coaching demonstrations, case studies and extensive resources and relevant literature

What's involved? Choose the learning path that works for you

You can complete the Coaching for Psychologists program in one of three ways:

1. Full program - in person workshops, online learning modules and coaching sessions,

2. Full online program - online learning modules, online experiential workshops and coaching sessions, or

3. Self-paced online program - online learning modules only.

Option 1: Full program

This is our preferred option as it gives participants the most learning opportunities. It includes:

  • two full day in-person workshops, where you will discuss program content, practise and receive feedback on your new skills and coaching techniques and extend your network with other psychologists with similar interests,

  • an online learning program that contains all the program content, references and exercises. This content includes an introduction to coaching, developing the coaching alliance and assessment, basic and more advanced coaching interventions and applications.

  • two coaching sessions with David Heap, to help focus your development and deeply embed your learnings in your practice, and

  • supervision of your practice coaching sessions.

The next program will have its workshops on Saturday 12 July and 2 August 2025 in the Sydney CBD. â€‹

Option 2: Full online program

This includes the same content as the face to face workshops in Option 1 but delivered via six interactive 2-hour online workshops via Zoom. These will still give participants an opportunity to discuss the online content, along with opportunities to practice the models and coaching techniques provided in each module, and to receive feedback on their practice. It will suit those who can't attend the in person workshops.

We will run this program later in 2025 depending on demand.

Option 3: Self-paced online modules

Our preference is for participants to undertake the full programs but we understand that not everyone may have the time and resources to meet the workshop commitments at this time. Option 3 will give those who are interested in learning more about coaching psychology to explore the area and help decide if they are interested in pursuing this further. This may be followed up later by attending the workshops or undertaking supervised practice with an experienced coaching psychologist.

Foundation online learning modules

The online program is organised into six modules. The content of each module provides answers to the why, what and how of each topic. The emphasis is on evidence based psychological models and practices that are widely used and accepted as best practice in wide psychological applications as well as coaching. The flow of these is intended to replicate how a coaching assignment proceeds: the introduction and exchanging of expectations between the coach and coachee, developing an alliance relationship, finding out about the coachee, undertaking the intervention, and at the end looking back at what has been learned and achieved, then looking ahead post-program.

Program Fees

Our fees for the three options are:

1. Full program - in person workshops, online learning modules and coaching sessions - $1980 inc GST

1. Full online program - online learning modules, online experiential workshops and coaching sessions - $1980 inc GST

3. Self-paced online program - online learning modules only - $660 inc GST

For non-Australians, your fees for the online content only program would be AUD$600 (GST not applicable).
